Position Summary

At Quinte Health Care, the Same Day Surgery (SDS) Nurses are highly skilled healthcare professionals, who play a critical role within our inter-professional care team. Reporting to the Perioperative Manager, the SDS Nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of the preoperative and postoperative patient. The RPN is responsible for ensuring that his/her professional practice and behavior meets legislative requirements and the standards of the profession as designed by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Required

• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current CPR or BCLS certificate.
• Minimum of 1-year surgical nursing experience within last 5 years.
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis PDA available to review)

Duties

• Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
• As an RPN in SDS/Short Stay Unit, nurse will utilize specialized knowledge, skills and judgement in assessing health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care.
• Maintains nursing records.
• Participates in CI Programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
• Other duties as assigned.
