Hours:
8-hour days and evenings, including weekends and statutory holidays. Hours and shifts are subject to change with notice based on the needs of the organization.

$29.67 - $30.97/Hour

Required

• Post-secondary education in Medical Secretary/Medical Transcriptionist or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Previous experience as a Medical Dicta Typist, is essential.
• Proven word processing skills, essential to meet established standards for accuracy and speed.
• Must be able to accept direction and work with minimum supervision.
• Must have satisfactory work performance in present position.
• Must have previous proven good attendance record.
• Graduate of a Medical Terminology Course.
• Successful candidates must perform satisfactorily on a transcription test prior to being confirmed, unless they have known performance in Quinte Health Transcription.
• For internal candidates, disciplinary and attendance records will be considered.

Duties

• Types medical reports and general correspondence from machine dictation.
• Proof reads and spell checks transcribed material to verify typographic accuracy and coherence of content.
• Forwards completed reports to appropriate individuals.
• Logs completed reports according to dictator, date and patient.
• Answers telephone, takes messages, screens and re-routes calls.
• Photocopies reports and mails copies to other health care facilities or physicians.
• Other duties as assigned.
