The Trenton Emergency Department (ED) is a dynamic unit catering to Trenton and nearby communities. Our Interdisciplinary team of Physicians, RNs, RPNs, NPs and PAs collaborates to provide comprehensive patient care. Our robust orientation program, including mentorship and in-class learning, empowers ER team members to expand their scope of practice, critical thinking, leadership, and nursing skills.Despite being a medium-volume ED, we handle diverse patient acuity levels and conduct regular interhospital transfers for advanced care. Thriving in a fast-paced environment, self-confidence, and teamwork are key attributes we value. Effective communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team is crucial, along with a commitment to continuous learning.Trenton ED fosters a familial atmosphere, supporting each other and collaborating seamlessly. We extend our assistance to the Inpatient Unit during critical care interventions, prioritizing the improvement and nurturing of team relationships. • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.• Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. QHC Cardio Concepts) or obtain within 6 months.• Current CPR or BCLS certificate.• Minimum 2 years recent Emergency Room experience within the last 5 years• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (PDA available to review)
• Provision of care for patients within an interproffessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education• Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.• Teaching and coaching to patients and families• Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.• Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession• Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annul training and education as indicated• Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives• Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures• Adapts and adheres to the values of QHC while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience• Other duties as assigned.
