Shifts are up to 12 hours long and may be scheduled on days, nights, weekends and statutory holidays. Hours and shifts are subject to change with notice based on the needs of the organization.

Position Summary

The Belleville Emergency Department is a fast paced department with an average of 115 patients visits per day. We are the center for all ICU, Internal Medicine, Inpatient Surgery, Gyne. & Maternity. Belleville is also a Schedule One facility for Psychiatry. Our Team is made up of RN’s, RPN’s, Physician’s, Physician Assistant’s as well as a multidisciplinary team of Physio, OT & Allied Health, all of whom practice with our corporate values in mind. We provide an extensive orientation program including classroom & mentoring one on one with a preceptor. Eligible for Quinte Health Recruitment Incentive (up to $10,000).

Required

• Current certificate of registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current certification in ACLS, or at a minimum BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course. You will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire/transfer.
• Current ACLS certification or able obtain within 3 months of the commencement of the position.
• Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. QHC Cardio Concepts) or able obtain within 6 months of the commencement of the position.
• Minimum of 1-year recent acute care experience, or 6 consistent months experience in an ER environment, or consolidation completed within an ER environment - within the last 2 years.
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (PDA available to review).

Duties

• Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills – to assume in-charge responsibility to function independently.
• Provision of care for patients within an inter-professional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching, and education.
• Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills, and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
• Teaching and coaching to patients and families.
• Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
• Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards, and best practices within the nursing profession.
• Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annul training and education as indicated.
• Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
• Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures.
• Adapts and adheres to the values of Quinte Health while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
• Other duties as assigned.
