Reporting to the Patient Services Manager, the RPN is a member of the health care team, accountable for the day to day provision of quality patient and family centered care in a manner consistent with QHC’s Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Direction. Under the direction of the Patient Care Lead (PCL), the RPN performs assigned clinical duties, coordinates the care of patients, and participates in the efficient operation of the patient care area.
• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.• Current CPR or BCLS certificate.• Demonstrated knowledge and skill working with various types of dementia, delirium, mental health issues, addictions and other neurological conditions.• Current Gentle Persuasion Certificate.• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review).
• Participate in clinical activity in the patient care area to promote quality care delivery• Manages key components of the clinical record, in a manner that is clear, concise and comprehensive and consistent with Hospital Policy.• Accountable to the patients assigned to her/him for providing and/or coordinating the care provided during the course of her/his hours of duty.• Optimizing patient centered care, the RPN will involve the patient’s family or significant others in the patient’s care, and will seek the collaboration and consultation of other members of the health care team as required.• Engages in critical inquiry to inform decision making and establishes therapeutic, caring and culturally safe relationships with patient and the interprofessional care team• Utilizes the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery.• Provides leadership in the practice setting by acting as a role model and preceptor for students and new staff.• Demonstrates leadership by providing, facilitating, and promoting the best possible care/service to patients, their families and significant others while role modeling professional values, beliefs and attributes.• Adheres to worker responsibilities as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Hospital policies.• Works together with members of the Health Care Team to create quality practice settings that promotes continuing competence and a healthy workplace.• Other duties as assigned.
