Position Summary

A Clinical Scholar will work in a supernumerary role and must be an experienced nurse with frontline practice. They will provide support and mentorship to newly graduated nurses, IENs and nurses seeking to upskill to aid transition into the nursing workforce.

Required

• Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the General Class with minimum 5 years of recent clinical experience in acute medicine and/or emergency department care
• Current BCLS certification
• Successful completion of Coronary Care 1
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within the nursing and inter-professional teams
• Previous experience teaching, and working with clinical learners
• Excellent clinical skills and competencies
• Demonstrated leadership, change management, and problem-solving skills

Duties

• Ensures the delivery of professional nursing care by utilizing evidence-based practice.
• Demonstrates critical thinking in the nursing process while collecting and interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care.
• Practices to the full scope of practice within own level of competence.
• Has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to guide competent, evidence-based nursing practice that complies with the College of Nurses of Ontario Practice Standards, Quinte Health Policies and Procedures, as well as the standards of care appropriate to the applicants are of clinical practice.

Trenton Memorial Hospital (TMH) is located in Quinte West, along the beautiful Bay of Quinte. TMH also provides a range of outpatient clinical and diagnostic services including cardiology, pulmonary function testing, diabetes education and management, medical day clinic, mammography, CT, X-ray and laser light urology.The staff, physicians and volunteers at TMH are passionate about providing quality care and treat patients like extended family.
