Nurse Practitioner (MRP) - Transition Pool

Position Summary
If you would like to apply your skills and expertise in a leading-edge role, then we would love to get to know you. As a NP-MRP at Quinte Health, you will:

• Practice at full scope with Most Responsible Provider (MRP) authority in a hospital setting
• Access a variety of hospital resources to provide comprehensive and highly coordinate care to your patients
• Be embedded in a collaborative environment with fellow providers, the internal and family medicine team, specialties, subspecialties and an interprofessional team
• Care for and guide patients experiencing a wide variety of diagnoses, and their families, through the post-acute phase
• Shape the role of NPs as MRP in a leading-edge, innovative model of hospital care

In your time off, you will live where others vacation, with direct access to all the Bay of Quinte and Prince Edward County have to offer.

• Enjoy the summer on or near the water: great boating, cycling, golf and endless beaches
• Hit the slopes, cross-country ski, skate and snowmobile picturesque country trails
• Immerse yourself in the thriving arts and culture scene
• Tour countless wineries and breweries in the Bay of Quinte and Prince Edward County
• Explore Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa or Montreal in a short commute

We are creating a new model of care in hospital medicine and are looking for clinical providers that want to help shape the future. This new model is based on enhanced collaboration between physicians and highly skilled NP-MRPs like you.

We are also pleased to offer a $25,000 financial incentive through the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) to qualifying applicants. To qualify you must:

• Not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the six months prior to being hired,
• Hold a Certificate of Registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario,
• Begin employment no later than March 31, 2025,
• Commit to 24-months of employment at a full-time work schedule offered by the employer, and
• Not simultaneously receive funds from the Ministry of Health Tuition Support Program for Nurse.

Required
• Master's Degree in Nursing
• Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in the Extended Class (RN-EC), NP Adult preferred, or Primary Health Care NP Certificate with relevant hospital experience
• A minimum of 3 years of acute in-patient or critical care nursing experience
• Able to prescribe controlled substances as authorized by CNO
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificates
• Experience as NP-MRP is preferred but not mandatory

Duties
The NP-MRP identifies solutions for complex healthcare issues for patients within Belleville General Hospital and/or Trenton Memorial Hospital’s post-acute units (rehab, complex continuing care, assess and restore, and/or alternate level of care). The NP-MRP is responsible for admission, discharge, documentation, assessments, diagnoses, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals and performing procedures within the legislated scope of practice.

In addition to direct clinical care, the NP-MRP leads the development and implementation of applicable clinical guidelines and protocols, promotes the use of research and evidence-based practice, provides expert support and consultation, and facilitates system change. The NP-MRP demonstrates sound communication skills, champions person and family centered-care, advocates for vulnerable patients and their caregivers, and provides support and education to the interprofessional team.
